What is Google Analytics?
Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. It was launched in November 2015. By installing the tracking code of google analytics, we can know the visit details like the number of times visited, from which traffic source, to which page they landed, browser used, location of visitor, the time they spend on the site, which all pages were visited, from which webpage they navigated to a particular webpage, device used, which OS used, network details, network traffic details etc.
Different Traffic Sources
1. Direct Traffic
When user directly enter the URL address in the browser and open the website, the traffic by these searches is Direct Traffic.
2. Organic Traffic
The number of people visited our website as a result of an internet search in search engines like Google, Bing etc.
3. Social Media Visits
Traffic we get by clicking links from any social media platform. This is of 2 types paid and organic.
4. Referral Traffic
Visits we get from referral links from other websites.
5. Ad Traffic
Visits from paid ad campaigns
Steps to install Google Analytics Tracking Code to your blog spot
1. Login to your Google account
2. Go to www.google.com/analytics
3. Now click on 'sign in analytics' option on the right side of the webpage.
4. Click on 'Start Measuring'
5. In the following window, enter the details like account name and check 'Google Products & Services' and click 'next' button
6. To set up property, enter property name, select the time zone and currency, then click next button
7. Enter business information and click create button
8. Select country in the service agreement and click 'I accept' button
9. Choose web platform and the website URL and Stream name
10. Select ' install manually' option and copy tracking code
11. Go to blogger.com. Click theme button in the left side of dashboard
12. Choose 'edit html' from the customize drop down menu
13. Paste tracking code in the head section
14. Go back to Google analytics. Select real time by clicking the home icon in the left side.
